«Το “The Code” αφορά το ταξίδι που ξεκίνησα με τη συνειδητοποίηση ότι δεν είμαι ούτε άνδρας ούτε γυναίκα. Το να βρω τον εαυτό μου ήταν μια μακρά και συχνά δύσκολη διαδικασία για μένα. Αλλά τίποτα δεν με κάνει να αισθάνομαι καλύτερα από την ελευθερία που κέρδισα συνειδητοποιώντας ότι είμαι non-binary» ανέφερε το Nemo.
Το «The Code» περιγράφεται όχι απλώς ως ένα τραγούδι, αλλά ως ένας ασφαλής χώρος μέσα από στον οποίο, κάθε άνθρωπος μπορεί να βρει την αλήθεια του. Η αλήθεια του Nemo βρίσκεται ανάμεσα στα 0 και 1 του δυαδικού συστήματος:
Η προσωπική ιστορία του Nemo έγινε μια παγκόσμια αφήγηση, μια έκκληση προς όλους να σπάσουν τον δικό τους κώδικα και να εισέλθουν στο βασίλειο της αυθεντικότητας. Και το Nemo δήλωσε χαρούμενο που μπόρεσε να χρησιμοποιήσει τη σκηνή του Μάλμε για να παρουσιάσει το τραγούδι και τον κώδικα που περιέχει:
«Είναι απίστευτη τιμή να εκπροσωπώ την Ελβετία στον διαγωνισμό της Eurovision. Αυτή η πλατφόρμα προσφέρει μια τεράστια ευκαιρία να χτίσουμε γέφυρες μεταξύ διαφορετικών πολιτισμών και γενεών. Γι’ αυτό είναι πολύ σημαντικό για μένα ως gender-queer άτομο να υπερασπιστώ ολόκληρη την LGBTQIA+ κοινότητα».
Σημειώνεται ότι για πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία της Eurovision συμμετειχαν δύο non-binary καλλιτέχνες, το Nemo της Ελβετίας και το Bambie Thug από την Ιρλανδία.
